Why we keep your customer conversations off the cloud
Most team inboxes store every chat on their servers. ThreadWave doesn’t. How a local-first design works, and why it matters for GDPR, trust and cost.
Every cloud inbox creates a second copy of your customers’ conversations — names, numbers, addresses, voice notes, order details — on someone else’s servers. That copy has to be secured, governed, disclosed in your privacy notice and, eventually, deleted. We built ThreadWave so that copy doesn’t exist.
How it works
- Meta sends a new message or call event to our relay.
- The relay verifies Meta’s signature and forwards the event to your desktop app straight away.
- As soon as your app confirms delivery, the relay deletes its copy. If your computer is offline, events wait encrypted for a short time (7 days at most).
- Your app stores the message in an encrypted database on your computer, with keys in your operating system’s keychain.
Why it matters
- Less exposure: there’s no central archive of customer chats to breach.
- Simpler compliance: data minimisation is the design, not a policy you hope people follow.
- No storage caps: your history lives on your hardware, so we don’t charge you to keep it.
- Speed: search and scrolling run against a local database.
What we do keep
